16th of may saw a meeting of 40 plus keen speedway fans gather for an information session hosted by Bob McCosker and the Gladstone Auto Club.
Track layout, gates, spectator and vendor requirements were all up for discussion. The storm water drain is a 90% complete and trenching for power and water has commenced. By next month it is expected that the footing for the concrete wall will have started.

Track is 500m on the fence with a 403m pole line. 12.5% banking start to finish.
15m wide track surface. Flat track infield for solos and side cars also including a 1/4 midget track.
Speedway has for over forty years provided the Gladstone community with family entertainment as a spectator sport and active involvement for others as participants. It is truly a family sport as many of our drivers are third generation with the Club which has a strong youth focus that provides for the development and training of young drivers in a safe and supportive environment.
The Gladstone Auto Club Inc. has over the years hosted many Australian, State and Regional finals in all classes of speedway. Speedway meetings see numerous participants from other areas come to compete, bringing along their families, friends and supporters.
Gladstone Auto Club Inc. is developing its new speedway track on Jono Porter Drive at Benaraby to provide an alternate activity for community participation and enjoyment.
The club members cover a broad range of the current speedway racing categories, from Juniors, Production and Modified sedans, Super Sedans and AMCA.
Our 24 x 24 meter pad can accommodate some of the regions wildest Skid cars. Everything from your off the street nanas Volvo up to supercharged methanol burning dedicated comp cars.
